Good News, Finding Happiness
I popped the question.
We were at dinner, this real nice Moroccan place. Our mutual favorite..it’s where we went on our first date, in fact. So anyway, we’re drinking this great house honey wine they serve. The tagine hasn’t yet arrived, so we’re snacking on bread and hummus and just enjoying the atmosphere. I drop my fork — on purpose — and ask her to get it for me, as it’s fallen on her side of the table. When she bends down to pick it up, after chiding me, of course, she sees the ring. I know she saw it, because she’s down there, paused for like 10 seconds. Way longer than is necessary to retrive a stupid fork, ya know? So that means shock, which can be good or bad. I’m betting on good. But then she pops her head up to answer me and hits her head on the table! She’s always been a klutz, so this was just perfect. We just sat there for a minute cracking up. I’m talking belly laughs. Finally, she’s able to spit out the answer.
She said yes!
And she didn’t even have to run a background check on me first to figure out if I was worthy. So I’m on cloud nine, pretty much. Not sure what to do with myself, quite frankly. I’m jittery as a june bug on a metal pan in an Alabama summer night. I think I’ll go person search to calm down. But this is good jittery, mind you. Happy jittery. Okay, this isn’t working. I’m going to peruse Rant Farm…this one looks funny: To The Girl Scout Cookies Name Change. Oh, and I better look into orac value. Gotta shape up for the wedding!
